Chichester Libraries and Post Offices: Join, Borrow and Find a Branch
How to join Chichester Library on Tower Street, what the West Sussex library service offers online, and where the Post Office branches in and around Chichester are listed.
Where is Chichester Library?
Chichester Library is on Tower Street, Chichester, PO19 1QJ. It is run by West Sussex County Council as part of the county library service. The library's page on the county council site says the library has books and audiobooks, free Wi-Fi, internet access and public computers, a photocopier, a scanner, study space and an Amazon locker for purchase collection. It tells visitors to use the library's own website for up-to-date opening hours, contact details, parking and access, so we have not quoted hours here.
Who can join and what does it cost?
The county council's join the library page says that anyone who lives, works or studies in West Sussex can join any of its libraries for free. You can register online to start using the library straight away. It adds that children under 13 must visit their local library in person with a parent or guardian to complete registration.
What can I do besides borrow books?
The more library services page lists children and teens programmes, the eLibrary (eAudiobooks, eBooks, eMagazines and eNewspapers), family history support, library room hire, reading groups, local studies, business resources, digital support for online skills, jobs and employment resources, learning support, wellbeing resources and volunteering. Which of these are available at which branch varies, so check with the library.
Online, the county council's library pages also cover how to renew an item, search the catalogue and see what is on at your library, all linked from the West Sussex libraries home page.
Is there a library near Bosham, Fishbourne, Lavant or Tangmere?
The county council's find a library page lets you search by town or postcode, and it lists Chichester Library among the county's 36 libraries. Use the search to check which library is closest to your village, since we have only confirmed Chichester Library on Tower Street from the official listing.
Where are the Post Office branches?
The Post Office publishes each branch's address, services and opening times in its branch finder. Branches we have checked on the Post Office's own pages, with addresses as published, include:
- Melbourne Road Post Office, 63 St James Road, Chichester, PO19 7HR
- Hardham Road Post Office, 4 Hardham Road, Chichester, PO19 8BU
- Parklands Post Office, 6 The Ridgeway, Chichester, PO19 3LA

- Bosham Station Post Office, Delling Lane, Bosham, PO18 8NN
Opening hours differ from branch to branch, with some branches open early and late and others open limited hours on Saturday, so check the branch page before you set out. Each page also lists the services on offer and accessibility facilities.
Can I pay bills at a Post Office?
For council tax, yes. Chichester District Council's pay your council tax page says you can pay at any Post Office or PayPoint using the barcode printed on your bill. If you do not have a barcode, contact the council's taxation office to ask for a bill that has one.
