Chichester Buses: Stagecoach Routes to Bosham, Fishbourne, Lavant, Tangmere and Summersdale
Which Stagecoach South routes link Chichester city centre with the villages and the coast, how the Coastliner 700 works, and where to find timetables and fares.
Who runs the buses in Chichester?
Local and regional buses around Chichester are run by Stagecoach South. The operator publishes a Chichester services page that lists the routes, and the individual route pages carry timetable downloads, a journey planner, live bus tracking and ticketing through its app. Bus routes and times change, so always check the operator's page or app for the current timetable.
Which routes serve the villages?
As listed by Stagecoach on its Chichester services page, the main routes include:
- Summersdale: route 50 runs Summersdale, Graylingwell and the city centre
- Fishbourne and Bosham: route 56 runs Old Bosham, Fishbourne, the city centre and Arundel Park, and the Coastliner 700 (see below) also serves Bosham
- Lavant: route 60 runs Midhurst, Cocking, Singleton, Lavant and Chichester
- Tangmere: route 55 runs Tangmere, Boxgrove, St Richard's Hospital and the city centre; route 500 runs Littlehampton, Yapton, Barnham, Fontwell, Tangmere and Chichester
Other routes in the same list include routes 46 and 47 to Parklands and East Broyle, route 51 to Selsey, Sidlesham and Hunston, routes 52 and 53 to The Witterings and Birdham, route 54 to Petersfield, Rogate and South Harting, route 600 to Bognor Regis and Pagham, and route 707 to Tesco, the University of Chichester, North and South Bersted and Bognor Regis.
What is the Coastliner 700?
Stagecoach's Coastliner page describes the 700 as running between Portsmouth, Havant, Emsworth, Bosham and Chichester, and between Chichester and Littlehampton or Yapton via Bognor Regis. As published, the Portsmouth to Chichester section runs up to every 20 minutes and the Chichester to Littlehampton or Yapton section up to every 30 minutes, with a 24 hour service between Chichester and Bognor Regis. The operator says an improved timetable started on 2 August 2026 with early morning and late evening journeys between Portsmouth, Havant and Chichester, with last departures listed at 22:25 and 23:40.
How much do tickets cost?
As published on Stagecoach's Coastliner page at the time of writing (October 2026), single fares are capped at £3, a Gold Adult DayRider costs £9.00, and a NightRider ticket gives unlimited travel after 7pm for £4. The page says the service is run in partnership with local councils as part of a Bus Service Improvement Plan. Fares and offers change, so check the page or app before you travel, and whether the offer covers the route you need.
Which buses go to St Richard's Hospital?
The hospital's getting here page lists bus services 55, 500 and 707. See our urgent care guide for the address and other hospital information.
Where do I find live times and the bus stops?
Use the Stagecoach website or app for timetables, journey planning and live tracking. Each route has its own page, such as the route 55 page for Tangmere and the route 700 page for Chichester to Portsmouth. We have not quoted stop locations or frequencies for routes where we could not confirm them on the operator's page.
How do I get from the bus to the train?
Chichester railway station is in Southgate, close to the city centre. See our train stations guide for the station facilities and how to reach Fishbourne and Bosham stations.
