When is the Chichester Farmers' Market?

According to Chichester District Council's Farmers' Market page, the market is held in Chichester city centre from 9.00am to 2.00pm on the first and third Friday of each month. The council lists the 2026 dates for the rest of the year as 16 October, 6 and 20 November, and 4 and 18 December. The page says all stallholders must grow, rear, bake or preserve their produce and be based within 50 miles of Chichester, and that most are primary producers offering meat, fruit, vegetables and eggs, alongside fish, cheeses, honey, cakes, chutneys and plants. Dates can change, so check the page before you go.

What is the Cross Market & More?

The council's Cross Market & More page describes a mixed street market organised by the district council, showcasing designers, makers and producers from across the district, with stalls ranging from textiles and jewellery to homemade food, prints and crafts. Its events listing shows the market returning to North and East Street in the city centre on Sunday 4 October 2026, from 10am to 4pm, with street food and drink. It also features students from Chichester College Group as "traders of tomorrow".

Where do I find what is on?

The council's what's on listing can be filtered by date and by categories including children and family, concerts, exhibitions, fetes and fairs, food and drink, markets, nature, performances, sports, talks, walks and workshops. At the time of writing it showed over a hundred events for October 2026 to early January 2027. The council's events page also has information on organising an event or a market in the district.

What is on in the arts at the moment?

From the council's listing at the time of writing (October 2026):

- Chichester Festival Theatre: A Midsummer Night's Dream runs 18 September to 17 October 2026 and Antigone Exits runs 26 September to 17 October 2026. The theatre's own website lists its current and upcoming shows and its box office details, including a venue called The Nest.
- Chichester Cathedral: Glowing + Alive, an exhibition about John Piper's tapestry behind the High Altar, runs until 3 January 2027.
- Pallant House Gallery: exhibitions including Haroun Hayward: Path Through Trees and British Landscapes: A Sense of Place run until 1 November 2026.
- The Novium Museum: the free Made in Chichester District exhibition runs until 1 April 2027.
- Chichester Half Marathon: runs on Sunday 4 October 2026, starting at 08:45 from Chichester College, Westgate Fields.

Check each venue's website for ticket prices and booking, since the council listing does not replace them.

What about the Novium and the tourist information centre?

The council's tourism page says its Tourism Information Centre is at The Novium on Tower Street, PO19 1QH, with phone number 01243 775888. It publishes seasonal opening hours for the Novium, which we cover in our things to do with kids guide.

Is there parking near the market?

The central car parks are listed on the council's car parks page, and the Market Road car park is season ticket only on weekdays but pay and display at weekends and on bank holidays, as the council notes. See our parking guide for charges and MiPermit, and our bus guide if you would rather leave the car at home.

Are there other markets and events in the villages?

Village events are usually run by parish councils and local groups, such as those for Fishbourne, Bosham, Lavant and Tangmere, so we do not cover them here. Check each parish council's website, or the district's listing above, for current dates.
